Q: Will the person that I am searching for or investigating be notified?

A: No. Our searches are performed confidentially. The person searched for, or investigated, is not informed of the search or investigation.

Q: Why does your Search Request Form require certain information about the person who is requesting the search?

A: The reasons we need that data are...

1) THE E-MAIL ADDRESS: We use a sophisticated system of security so that when your information is sent through the Internet, it is virtually impossible to decipher it. One of the aspects of that security is the elimination of the ability of the system to automatically read a person's E-mail Address. Since most people request that we send their report via E-mail, we are simply trying to be sure that the E-mail address has been included, and that we have the correct E-mail address.

2) YOUR NAME: Most people use a credit card to pay for our services. To authorize the use of the credit card, the credit card companies require a minimum of The Cardholder's Name, and the Cardholder's Address, Zip or Postal Code.

3) A CONTACT TELEPHONE NUMBER: Occasionally, the researcher who is assigned a search/service request, will see the need to clarify a point in the submitted data, such as the spelling of a name, etc.; or, to request more information about the person being sought or investigated, in an effort to deliver the best service possible to the Client.

4) ADDRESS, ZIP OR POSTAL CODE: See number two...credit card company requirements.

5) It is simply a matter of good record keeping. Since we are a legitimate business, we make a record of every search/service we perform. That way, if there is ever any question as to what work was done.. for whom, by whom, when it was requested, when it was delivered, what information was delivered, by what means it was delivered, how much was spent obtaining the information, or how much was billed for the information, we will be able to answer those questions.

Q: Will I be charged for the search if you cannot find the person I am looking for?

A: With our database searches, we do not charge the Client if we find no record using the Client's search criteria. If, using the SSN the Client provided as search criteria, for example, we do a Social Security Number Trace and we could not find any record, then we will not charge for that search. On the other hand, if we do a Social Security Number Trace using the SSN the Client provided, and we find the Subject's records, we must charge for the search. See our Terms and Conditions page for more information.

Q: What if the results of your search turn out to be information that I already have?

A: We perform every search using precisely the search criteria the Client provides. If the search finds record/s, we must charge for the search. Consider the following scenario (and this actually happens quite often)...A Client has been searching for a particular person for some time now. The Client has a previous address from a few years ago. About once a month, the Client will request a Name and Address Search, or a Social Security Number Trace to see if a new address has been reported for the person. Each time the Client submits the request, a researcher spends time and money searching every available database for any record of the Subject. So far, the databases have contained no new address for the Subject; but, each time, the records that are there are retrieved, and reported to the Client. So, it is only fair that we charge for the work we do. In fact, our policy of not charging if we find no record is actually very generous since we spend time and money for every search, regardless of whether we find anything.

Note: In each case, we make a thorough and exhaustive search of every available database system. If there are any records to be found, we will find them. But, we have no control over the content of those records. For complete details about our Refund Policy, please see our Terms and Conditions page.

Q: How current is the information you provide?

A: We use the most current, most reliable sources of information available. It is not unusual for our researchers to find records as current as only a few weeks old. But, that depends entirely upon how recently an individual's records have been updated by applying for credit, renting or buying a house, buying or renting a car, renewing a driver's license, renting a video, getting a magazine subscription, etc.

Q: How long does it take to get the information?

A: The turn-around time is generally one business day. If we receive the request before 2:00 PM, mountain time, we usually have the results that same day. On rare occasions, it may take two days to send the results. That is usually the result of a malfunction in the database system, weather related problems, or some other problem beyond our control.

Q: I am uncomfortable submitting my credit card number or other personal data over the Internet. Is your Website really secure? What are the alternatives to using your Search Request form?

A: Our Order Forms are Secure. We use the industry's best system of encryption for transmitting data from our Website. We have been conducting credit card transactions via the Internet since it became possible to do so, and nobody has ever had their data stolen while using our system. Although it is theoretically possible to break any security system, the system we use has never been broken, and the chances of it ever being broken are approximately equal to the chances of someone figuring out the lottery numbers for every week for the next hundred years.

Note: Some people feel more comfortable using US Mail, telephone, FAX, or Email when submitting their personal data. Although we prefer the use of our Search Request form because it was designed to integrate with our Customer Service Department, the Research Department, and the record keeping system, we can take requests by whichever means suits the Client.

Q: I've been burned before...I ordered a search from 1-800-YOU-KnowWHO, and all they sent me was an outdated list of names of people that were not the person I am searching for...and, they charged almost $100 for the search...and, when I called or sent messages, they never responded. How do I know that you are not going to do the same thing?

A: We get this question an awful lot. It's a sad reminder that wherever there are good people conducting legitimate, fair, enterprise, there will always be those who take unfair advantage. Our databases are updated regularly (some, every day) - the only time you might receive a list of records from us is when there are more than one record that exactly match the search criteria you provide, such as if your were to specify - Name: John, Date of Birth: 10/22/1956, for example - in which case, you can expect to find dozens of records of persons that fit that criteria.

Our prices are set as low as possible. To stay in business, we must remain competitive, make the potential Client feel like the service is worth the money, and ensure profitability for the company (we have to pay our bills too).

If any of our Clients ever have questions or concerns, we respond promptly.

Q: I have a business/company that often needs services such as yours, and I may be interested in using your service on a regular basis. What kind of discounts and/or other benefits do you offer for volume usage?

A: Most of our clients are companies and agencies that use our services on a regular basis. We offer substantial discounts for large volume orders and have the ability to process very large orders in a very short period of time; and as always, we guarantee the absolute most current, most complete and most accurate information that exists. Q: Are there any terms or conditions that I should be aware of?

A: Yes. In an effort to be as fair as possible to the most people possible, including us, and to try to be sure that everyone knows what to expect, we have included a section entitled Terms and Conditions. Before a search or service is requested, we ask that our clients review and agree to the terms and conditions.

Q: I can't get to your secure order form. What's the problem?

A: It is almost definitely the security settings on your browser. This problem is especially prevalent with Microsoft's Internet Explorer 4.0. For help in correcting the problem click here.

Also, if you intend to pay for your search by check or money order, you might want to consider using the Standard order form option that is available for each of our searches/services. You can simply complete the form, then print it and mail it along with your check or money order. Regardless of whether or not you are using the secure form, it is impossible for anyone outside of your computer network to view the data you type into the form until you press the Submit button. In other words, as long as the data is on your screen, and you have not "Submitted" it, no-one can see it except you (or someone tied into your computer, such as in an office network environment).
